LEICESTER’S home leg of the promotion / relegation play-off with Sheffield, originally due on Wednesday, has been delayed until next Monday, October 16.
The club would, however, like to emphasise the first leg goes ahead on schedule at Owlerton Stadium tonight.
This early decision has been taken after consultation with GoSpeed’s Terry Russell and BT Sport to minimise inconvenience with rain expected.
“It’s a mutual thing, we’ve had a great season on BT Sport and this is a big meeting and we don’t want to risk fans on the night and TV viewers watching a meeting in poor conditions and risking not going the distance,” said Russell.
“I’ve spoken to BT Sport, Leicester and Sheffield and everyone is happy with the decision. I now look forward to a terrific night at Sheffield tonight and rounding off a good season of entertainment with BT Sport for British Speedway next Monday.
“This is a classic case of Speedway working in the best interests of everyone. We are concerned by the Leicester weather forecast for Wednesday and my thanks go to all parties concerned.
“Good luck to both teams for tonight.”
